Call for Artists
We invite artists, educators, and community organizations working in all mediums and across different sectors to submit an interactive work and/or activity to share their knowledge related to food and movement building for The Rooted Recipe Project’s community meal to be held June 2019. Submission Requirements & Guidance
Your work and/or activity draws inspiration from teachings of community leaders, past and present (including but not limited to Grace Lee Boggs, Larry Itliong, Yuri Kochiyama, the Trung sisters, and Dr. Dawn Mabalon), our ancestors and families, and/or our shared histories as Asians and Pacific Islanders. The goal is through each interaction and each guest playing a part in creating the meal, we will create a space to share food and knowledge, and work towards bridging the lessons of our collective memories with visioning and practice. Using the lens of cultural foods and land-based practices, submissions can include interactive works or activities that involve the guests creating part of the space and meal. This could include but not limited to creating pieces that will become table decor, prepping a food dish, or an activity that will involve sharing what they create/learn at the station with those sitting next to them during the meal. Activities will need to be able to fill at least one hour. Please keep in mind the event will take place outdoors so there is no access to electricity. Delivery & Insurance
